Synthos at the forefront of National Champions according to the report of Polityka Insight

Polityka Insight has published the latest report ‘National Champions. How do they take care of our safety?’ for 2022. The report describes the impact of Polish companies on the development of areas of key importance for Poland as well as the safety of our country. Synthos held the 8th positionin the main ranking and, therefore, maintained its high position held last year.

In this year’s ‘National Champions’ report, Synthos was on the 8th position of the main ranking, and was ranked high in individual categories. The company took the 5th position in the ‘Sector’ category and the 5th position in the ‘Processing and Construction’ category in the champion classification according to the main sectors of the economy.

As the authors of the report write, the top of the sector ranking is highly diversified both in terms of sectors and in terms of owners, and Synthos is a positive example of a private company without public support which has been able to become a leader in its sector.

The Synthos Group operates on a dynamically changing market, which presents us with constant challenges. We carefully monitor the geopolitical situation and global trends, and respond to them, implementing necessary steps, often in advance. We pay special attention also to the sustainable development objectives through pursuing our EverGreen strategy – says Zbigniew Warmuz, President of the Management Board of Synthos S.A. – As a leading supplier of synthetic rubber for the production of tyres and technical rubber products, Synthos constantly focuses on obtaining synthetic rubber from renewable raw materials. Our long-term objective is to achieve the position of a leader of innovative and responsible chemical solutions for our planet. We may achieve this position through cooperation with our business partners and our employee’s engagement – he emphasises.

Apart from the 8th position in the top of this year’s list, Synthos achieved a very good result in the five-year ranking, which summarises the results from 2018-2022, taking the 7th place.

Adam Czerniak, Director for Research at Polityka Insight and co-author of the ‘National Champions. How do they take care of our safety?’ report, spoke during the first presentation of the report about the role of Polish companies in ensuring the safety of Poland.

For five years, we have been preparing the ranking of the top Polish companies of key importance for the economy. Most rankings of companies drawn up in Poland focus only on the size of a company or capital group measured with basic macroeconomic indicators – revenue, profit, export or employment. However, this is only one of the dimensions emphasised in the Polish public discourse on national champions. Apart from the size of companies, also their efficiency, role in the sector, presence on the international market and investments in development and innovativeness are important. This time we pay very close attention to the change in the role of Polish national champions in ensuring the safety of our country. The State cannot replace them and, therefore, it should support them – said the expert.

The report presents the ranking of the Polish champions on the basis of the company’s original indicator of National Champions (NC). It has been prepared on the basis of each company’s average result in four key categories: economy, sector, presence abroad and innovativeness. The calculations have resulted in distinguishing 40 Polish companies.
